Local founders and CEOs inspire entrepreneurs on ChattaScooter Startup Tour

As part of Startup Week, Adventure Sports Innovation organized a tour of seven local organizations founded recently in the Scenic City.

Founders / CEOs of local success stories such as Craig Fuller from Freightwaves, and Tim Piersant from Chattanooga Whiskey, shared their entrepreneurial journey with tour participants’ from the front doors of their own business locations.

Participants rode ChattaScooters between each stop on the tour.

“New entrepreneurs are always inspired by hearing success stories,” Patrick Molloy, who founded Adventure Sports Innovation with his wife Carolina in 2018, said. “What if we pivoted for Startup Week this year, and instead of speakers going to the audience, we have the audience go to the speakers? We decided to offer the startup community a way to ‘Explore Differently’ by leveraging our fleet of ChattaScooters for easy transportation in between locations.”

The tour started at Adventure Sports Innovation, and included startup companies and entrepreneurial organizations.

Companies on the tour included Moonlight Roller, where participants heard from its Founder Adrienne Cooper (who’s in Forbes 30 under 30 list); a visit to the Southside, where Hispanic serial entrepreneur Luis Contreras (The Local Juicery and Kitchen, Paletas and Squeaky Clean) treated them to a delicious sample of his juices, a stop at the Edney Innovation Center to hear from CO.LAB’s Director of Communication Chloé Morrison; Bill Chase CMO at Bellhops; and finished up with OddStory Brewery on MLK Boulevard where owner Bryan Boyd shared his journey.

ChattaScooter is an e-scooter rental service that Adventure Sports Innovation launched during the pandemic, and is only available in Chattanooga, TN.

The program allows riders 16 or over with a smartphone and credit (or debit) card to conveniently rent an electric scooter, making downtown navigation easy and quick.

There are drop-off / pick up locations at Adventure Sports Innovation in the North Shore, the Holiday Inn and Suites Downtown and the Kinley Hotel in the Southside. ChattaScooters complies with City of Chattanooga regulations that banned dockless scooters such as those operated by Bird and Lime in Atlanta and Nashville.

“It was by far the most fun and immersive session I’ve joined where I hear CEOs giving their perspectives,” one of the tour participants Jim Frierson said. “I hope it will become a Startup Week annual event.”

ASI Founder in CityScope

ASI Founder in CityScope

We are honored and privileged to have our very own CFO, Carolina Molloy featured in this year’s business edition of CityScope. Having our ASI founder in CityScope lets us reach thousands of locals who subscribe to the Chattanooga-based magazine! Check out her excerpt:

“Consistent branding was crucial from day one. One of our first marketing projects was to develop our brand guide and voice – and we follow it faithfully! Our signage, brochures, rack cards, websites, and social media pages all focus on presenting images or videos of our products in use. We always want to focus on people enjoying our high-tech gear rather than simply focusing on the products themselves.

Our company offers a wide array of products and experiences for individuals and groups, so we fall into several industry categories, such as outdoor adventures, attractions and entertainment, and sporting goods retailers. A huge upside is that we can appeal to a wide audience, but that also means that it is hard to focus our messages for such a wide audience. So, our challenge is to find ways to market our offerings to multiple demographics for each product and experience type while working within a limited budget. Therefore, we need to create and publish separate campaigns for each type of audience. Measuring ROI for any marketing campaign is always difficult, especially when a company has a multi-media approach, and we often rely on guest feedback as to how they discovered us, which helps to inform our future marketing decisions.”

ChattaScooter Expands Downtown Locations

ChattaScooter Expands Downtown Locations

Check out this article from The Chattanoogan about ChattaScooter expands downtown locations!

“ChattaScooter has added The Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Chattanooga Downtown as a new location for scooter rental pickup and drop-off. In addition to its current locations on the Northshore and Southside, a scooter station will be located at the corner of Chestnut Street and 5th Street, convenient for residents and visitors alike, who wish to see more of the city in a shorter time.

Jonathan Armstrong, regional director of Sales and Marketing for the Holiday Inn and the Dynamic Group, said, “We are very excited to provide this new service. Our team believes this concept will appeal to both our valued guests, and locals, as a convenient way to scoot around downtown.”

ChattaScooter is an on-demand scooter rental service only available in Chattanooga. It allows riders 16 or over with a smartphone and credit (debit) card to rent an electric scooter. Adventure Sports Innovation, a local entrepreneurial company, provides this service in several locations in the downtown area.

Current ChattaScooter locations:

North Shore: Adventure Sports Innovation, 191 River St. (across from Coolidge Park carousel)
Downtown: Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, 434 Chestnut St. (Chestnut & 5th, by main entrance)
Southside: Kinley Hotel, 1409 Market St. (Market and 14th, at valet stand)

ChattaScooters can only be rented/dropped off at designated locations inside of a business, to ensure that scooters are not abandoned on city streets and sidewalks. Helmets and sanitized equipment are available at all locations, while the phone app provides detailed instructions for first-time riders. Support and service are available from Adventure Sports Innovation by phone at 388-2200.

“We launched the ChattaScooter program in the height of the pandemic, to offer more fun outdoor activities in Chattanooga,” said Patrick Molloy, Adventure Sports Innovation’s CEO. “We work to provide a high quality and safe experience. Our program is different because it addresses the safety concerns and haphazard parking issues that have occurred in other cities with ‘dockless’ scooters.”

ChattaScooter is expanding its fleet, and the company has plans for more scooters and more locations that will be added as demand continues to ramp up riders can find a custom map that offers suggested routes and pickup/drop off locations at: CHATTASCOOTER MAP.”

Swincar Featured at Reflection Riding

Swincar Featured at Reflection Riding

We are excited about this months newsletter from Reflection Riding! We have very much enjoyed being a part of the Reflection Riding family and sharing our fantastic Swincars with our guests at their beautiful arboretum. Check out the snippet from the newsletter below to see Swincar Featured at Reflection Riding!

“Reflection Riding’s founder John Chambliss created “the Riding” at the height of America’s car culture and marketed the place as a drive-through roadside attraction. Today, you can enjoy a similar experience in a Swincar e-Spider, through our partnership with Adventure Sports Innovation. These electrically powered off-road vehicles provide a very unique driving experience, with a comfortable and stable ride. Swincar e-Spiders make almost no sound, run entirely on electricity and have a very light footprint when it comes to wearing down the roads and causing potholes. With no windshield or enclosed cabin, they’re also the best way (aside from on foot) to see the property and experience the outdoors while getting a view of the entire Reflection Riding loop. Plus, ASI is delighted to work with guests who may have mobility challenges to explore the full park.

Currently, all Swincar tours are led by a guide from Adventure Sports Innovation. If you meet a Swincar tour while hiking at Reflection Riding, feel free to say hello to fellow explorers! Tour participants will keep an eye out for pedestrians and will try not to startle you as they quietly navigate the campus.Contact us to book a tour as a team-building activity, or book a trip for your family or friends. Tours are typically offered Wednesday-Sunday at 1:30 and 3:30.”

We hope you enjoyed reading about us, and we are looking forward to many more adventures in the future! Be sure to check back for more updates about Swincar Featured at Reflection Riding in the future!

Gear Update: Hadean Board!

Gear Update: Hadean Board!

Evolve has been busy, and we’ve been anxiously awaiting new surprise developments in their boards’ tech. They finally made the announcement last week and cut the red ribbon on their new Hadean board lineup! These new boards are quite an upgrade from the GTR, even though the GTR sported some pretty impressive specs. Available with bamboo and carbon fiber decks, Hadean boards can hit speeds up to 31mph on flat ground and carry riders up to 40 miles thanks to two – Count’em, two – 3000 watt motors.

[Yes, you read it correctly>>Speed: 31mph & Range: 40 miles]

This board is pushing the limits of the sport and is truly for top-notch and soon-to-be top-notch riders. We’ll let you know when we have Hadean boards in stock, and can help with pre-orders, but in the meantime, swing by and take our demo GTR board out for a spin. You won’t be disappointed.
