Swincars on Discovery Channel

“Something I Definitely Recommend”

On a warm summer day in Chattanooga Tennessee, the Adventure Sports Innovation team met with Kevin and Patrice McCabe, the personable and enthusiastic hosts of Discovery Channel’s “RV There Yet?” show.

We introduced them to the eco-friendly Swincars, and took them on a driving adventure through the woods climbing the west side of Lookout Mountain. Their reactions were similar to the hundreds of guests we’ve taken on our off-road driving expeditions – “it was wonderful”, “amazing”, “such an interesting ride” and “something I definitely recommend”.

Their Swincar adventure fit very well with the themes of their show and the Discovery Channel, and we hope it will make more people aware of these amazing inventions and want to get outside and Explore Differently with us.

The process of filming an episode is very involved! We spent most of the day at the park with Patrice, Kevin and their film crew, getting establishing shots, close up video, interviews, and of course, lots of time on the trails filming them driving their Swincars. The team took at least 4 hours worth of footage from multiple cameras, which ended up being edited down to about four and half minutes of show time!

The episode highlighted multiple adventures the McCabe’s had while in Chattanooga. We only wish we could have seen even more of the content that was created, which included lots more details about the Swincars, about Adventure Sports Innovation and our mission to showcase and explore with electric powered personal transportation devices of all sorts, and also about the venue where we take our guest tours in Chattanooga, Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center, who help people get outside and be in close contact with nature every day.

We invite you to visit our websites to learn more about Adventure Sports Innovation and about the Swincars, or better yet, book a tour for yourself to experience eco-tourism at its finest!

We’re also working to establish partner locations around the country featuring Swincar Eco-Tours. Book your Swincar test drive with either the “Eco-Spider Tours” at Historic Banning Mills Adventure Park in Whitesburg Georgia, or the “Swincar Tour” at Rugaru Adventures in Broken Bow Oklahoma.

Family Road Trip Guide: Chattanooga, TN – Detroit Metro Parent, Sept 2022 by Courtney Fries

Family Road Trip Guide: Chattanooga, TN – Detroit Metro Parent, Sept 2022 by Courtney Fries

Fall is the perfect time to visit this southern beauty of a city, especially for outdoor lovers.

Chattanooga, in southeast Tennessee near Georgia, oozes with southern charm and offers ample outdoor attractions and family-friendly activities. Nicknamed “the Scenic City” for its location amidst the Appalachian Mountains and Tennessee River, Chattanooga features a walkable downtown with an educational aquarium, scenic views worthy of a fall colors visit and food my son still raves about.

Here’s a guide on how to make the most of your family road trip to Chattanooga.

Getting to Chattanooga, Tennessee

Chattanooga is about a nine-hour drive south of Detroit. Take I-75 south about 620 miles through Toledo, Cincinnati and Lexington to Chattanooga.

What Families Love About Chattanooga, Tennessee

Chattanooga offers a variety of family-friendly attractions to choose from. My crew’s favorite features were the super friendly people, outdoor activities and warmer weather. Locals all had time to ask, “How are you doing, darlin’?”

The natural beauty is abundant, leaving less room for kids to complain when you want to spend time outside. And the weather is warmer than Detroit with more sunny days, almost no snow and al fresco dining aplenty. […]

My family is big on outdoor adventure, so I was super pumped to learn about Adventure Sports Innovation, a Chattanooga company that pioneers outdoor adventure technology. It offers all sorts of thrilling land, water and virtual reality experiences, including walking in hover shoes, surfing on hydrofoil boards and hang gliding simulations. My son and I explored Lookout Mountain via Swincar eSpider which is a four-wheel electric vehicle with pendulum seating and spider-like arms. Even climbing up or down the rugged terrain we stayed upright, which was a wild sensation. The engine was so quiet I could barely tell the Swincar was on. We had a spectacular time laughing and joking as we tackled turns and swayed in the fresh air. […]

Swincar Featured at Reflection Riding

Swincar Featured at Reflection Riding

We are excited about this months newsletter from Reflection Riding! We have very much enjoyed being a part of the Reflection Riding family and sharing our fantastic Swincars with our guests at their beautiful arboretum. Check out the snippet from the newsletter below to see Swincar Featured at Reflection Riding!

“Reflection Riding’s founder John Chambliss created “the Riding” at the height of America’s car culture and marketed the place as a drive-through roadside attraction. Today, you can enjoy a similar experience in a Swincar e-Spider, through our partnership with Adventure Sports Innovation. These electrically powered off-road vehicles provide a very unique driving experience, with a comfortable and stable ride. Swincar e-Spiders make almost no sound, run entirely on electricity and have a very light footprint when it comes to wearing down the roads and causing potholes. With no windshield or enclosed cabin, they’re also the best way (aside from on foot) to see the property and experience the outdoors while getting a view of the entire Reflection Riding loop. Plus, ASI is delighted to work with guests who may have mobility challenges to explore the full park.

Currently, all Swincar tours are led by a guide from Adventure Sports Innovation. If you meet a Swincar tour while hiking at Reflection Riding, feel free to say hello to fellow explorers! Tour participants will keep an eye out for pedestrians and will try not to startle you as they quietly navigate the campus.Contact us to book a tour as a team-building activity, or book a trip for your family or friends. Tours are typically offered Wednesday-Sunday at 1:30 and 3:30.”

We hope you enjoyed reading about us, and we are looking forward to many more adventures in the future! Be sure to check back for more updates about Swincar Featured at Reflection Riding in the future!

Bringing Teams Together in a Covid World

Bringing Teams Together in a Covid World

Check out this article written by ASI CEO Patrick Molloy featured in Business trend all about bringing teams together in a Covid world!

“In Chattanooga, as vaccines roll out and our public health emergency starts to feel manageable, how are companies planning to bring their employees back together? Many employees have been working remotely for over a year.  Others have been on the front lines facing nervous customers in masks.  How do managers get their employees functioning as a team again, and is it worth considering the value of incorporating well-managed fun into a company’s “back-to-the-office” strategy.

Here at Adventure Sports Innovation, like many local providers of group activities, we’re preparing for the return of corporate team building and team development events, and we’re anticipating that many organizations are going to look for novel ways to ease the transition back to working in person. The challenge of course, is finding ways to encourage fun and connection without encouraging risk.

At ASI we do think it’s possible and we do think it’s worth it. We’ve always built our events around getting outdoors and trying new things, so we’ve always had to spend considerable time thinking about safety and risk management. We equip all of our guests with helmets and other appropriate safety gear, and all of our group excursions, virtual or otherwise, are guided by professionals. None of this prepared us for pandemic risk management, but we were luckier than most, and we found that many of our adventures were easily adjusted to keep people safe and happy. Cleaning happens constantly – of course – and we’ve adjusted policies to allow smaller groups to reserve exclusive access to our facilities for events. However, for larger groups – even as many as 30 participants – we’ve been able to leverage our location on the North Shore to develop new activities that take advantage of the beautiful outdoor spaces along the riverfront.

We have already held our first few small team events of the year and, so far, our system is working well. In fact, the reviews for group events this year have been even better than back in 2019 and early 2020, as everyone is excited to be together again.  Collaborating on topics like “Innovating within your company”, “Overcoming Fears to Success” or “Overcoming Unconscious Bias”, and then playing together for a couple of hours on Little Vehicles around town, VR Simulators, or on our unique Swincar electric off-roaders, seems to be the ice breaker and stress reliever that teams hard-wired throughout the pandemic really need.

Between the safety of our clients and our own concerns for the safety of our facilitators, there’s a lot to consider, but we’ve found that activities as simple as riding electric scooters, e-bikes and mini-Segways together on the Riverwalk can be a great way to remind people that it’s kind of nice to see their team every day. Plus, while under normal circumstances it’s difficult to both bond and be socially distant, we’ve found that riding Little Vehicles together has been a notable exception.

We see the benefits of making something that’s “not-so-normal”, become a part of a company’s “return to normal.” Will the market see it that way? Who knows. But if it does, we’ll be ready for it.”
